COACH KESHI RELEASES LIST BUT LEAVES MIKEL OUT
I promised to bring you the list of players as released by the Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, well there is more to it.
The super
Eagles is set to open their 2014 World Cup campaign against Namibia and Malawa,
and then after will host Rwanda in a 2013 African Cup of Nations tie and coach
Stephe Keshi yesterday released the list of players to execute these matches.
The shocker of
the list thought was that the great premier League stars John Obi Mikel, of the
Champions League finalist club Chelsea F.C., who is yet to play for Nigeria since
Keshi took charge in November; Taye Taiwo, Peter Odemwingie and Yakubu
Aiyegbeni were all left out of the Stephen Keshi’s squad for the next month
qualifiers series
Coach Stephen
Keshi said at the release that “Mikel is in my plans but we will give other
players an opportunity as well” he said he wants to give players from the local
leagues a chance, stating that nobody knew of the likes of Uche Kalu, Ejike
Uzoenyi or Geodfrey Oboabona until the opportunity was given.
Keshi told BBC
that the door is still open to anyone
The Super Eagles will host Namibia on the
3rd of June in Calabar, before travelling to Malawi the following
weekend for another qualifier.
The Overseas-based players called up
in the list are:
