HOW TO BE A CHEERFUL GIVER

Image
Have you ever given with a good intention but still felt bad about giving? Your thoughts try to question your actions and you find yourself struggling with them. Yes! This sometimes happen, especially when you give the wrong way. Giving is an act and requires grace. There is an infallible method of giving that if followed properly, not only will you never regret giving but equally attain the benefits that follows the grace, I call them the appropriate steps of giving. There are three steps to beneficial unregretful giving; a proper implementation of these steps would give you warm feelings of joy as your giving would be cheerful. Cheerful giving is the best form of giving, and these steps can teach even the stingiest natured person to give cheerfully. STEP ONE: LEARN TO GIVE TO GOD One can understand why this could be a difficult step. Even back in bible times when God spoke to man directly, when there were no churches or temples, Cain still found it difficult to offer pr...

DON'T LOSE YOURSELF TO THE SEARCH.

Image
She gave her car key to the youngest child in the car while she went to buy some stuff in the mall. Upon her return, the boy had misplaced the key and the whole family was stranded on the road. Observing her discomfort with innocent kids without a masculine shepherd, I joined the search party. For each passing minute without the key, she landed the boy that had the key with a slap or a concentrated curse! After few minutes, she strayed in frustration into a motorbike's way and was knocked down. It was in the process of helping her up and picking the pieces of her belongings that the car key was found. She had already lost herself before the key was found! Many people lose themselves in search of what is missing in their lives. Many lose their moral limb while searching for the "missing rib"! Some lose their health while searching for material wealth. I know those who lost their message while searching for relevance and sponsors. Some lose their marr...

THREE MARVELOUS STORIES...

Image
Mother Teresa A story is told of Mother Teresa, the saint of the Calcutta slums. She went with a small child to a local baker and begged some bread for the hungry lad. The baker spat full in Mother Teresa's face. Undaunted, she calmly replied, "Thank you for that gift to me.   Do you have anything for the child?" Desmond Tutu When he was a young pastor in Johannesburg,  he was making his way along a wooden sidewalk, raised above the muddy street. He came to a narrow section of the sidewalk and was met by a white man coming from the other direction. The man said to Tutu: "Get off the sidewalk; I don't make way for gorillas." Tutu stepped aside, gestured broadly, and responded, "I do!" The third example I offer is by far the most powerful, at least if we measure power in terms of practical consequences.   Pope John Paul II On June 2, 1979, Pope John Paul II came to Victory Square in the heart of Warsaw and celebrate...

8 THINGS TO CARRY LIKE A CRATE OF EGGS.

Image
Friends, there are things we must carry and handle with extra- carefulness, because these things are fragile. Once broken, it is not easy to put back together, and once some of these things get broken, they can lead to huge damage, and destiny wastage. Let me mention 8 of those things you must carry/handle with carefulness, as if you are carrying a crate of eggs.  1. Your Name: Your name is very important and fragile. There are names that stinks in the ears of people, simply because those who bear those names spoilt the name. The way to handle your name with carefulness, is to be careful of your doings. Your actions can rubbish your name. A good name can open doors for you, & for your children and generations after you. Carry your name with carefulness. It is a huge asset. Read one of the quotes written by Shakespeare: 'Who steals my purse steals trash; 'tis something, nothing; 'Twas mine, 'tis his, and has been slave to thousands;...

WE NEED MORE MEN

Image
I'm not sure when men decided that 30 was the new 15. When men thought it was better to remain independent than making a commitment to another. When men were courageous in business and battle but afraid to be fathers. I'm not sure when video games and "guy night" became more important than tee-ball and date night. When 4-year-long relationships weren't long enough for a proposal. When staying out became cooler than showing up. I'm not sure when men became boys. Our culture has a boy problem. In Italy, they call it Peter Pan Syndrome. I call it immaturity and selfishness. Men so focused on their dreams, their visions, and their desires they find themselves wealthy, known, and alone. The adult world doesn't need more boys. We need Godly men who will grow up, know up, and show up. Who will fight for romance, commit quickly, and stay indefinitely. To turn their hearts toward children and work to raise them well. To be friends who grow friends. Not...

The day I discovered the true wealth of Nigeria

Image
It's not all about oil! When I first arrived in Nigeria to set up the country's first GSM mobile network, Econet Wireless Nigeria (now Airtel Nigeria), I had to serve as the company's interim CEO for about six months, until we appointed someone substantive. This meant I practically lived in Nigeria for most of that time.  It was a remarkable experience, and one which will remain with me all my life.  Nigeria is one of the most exciting countries in the world, and could be the next China before the turn of this century. I just want to share with you one particular incident which led me to that conclusion:  As many people know, today Nigeria has over 120m mobile phones users. To imagine that I made the first ever official GSM mobile call in Nigeria on 6th August 2001 seems almost unbelievable...

ATITUDES AND TRADITIONS.

Image
An army barracks had four soldiers guarding a concrete slab in front of the barracks at all times. Different commanders came and went but the tradition remained; the soldiers changed shifts guarding the slab. After 80 years, a new commander was assigned to the barracks. One of the things he did was to ask why things were done the way they were. When he asked why soldiers were guarding the slab, he was told, We've always done it this way. It's our tradition. Our former commanders instructed us to do that. The commander was bent on finding out the reason for this practice. He went to the Archives to look for answers and came across a document that had the explanation. The document was very old. It had instructions written by one of the retired commanders who had even passed away. The new commander learnt that over 80 years ago, the barracks wanted to build a platform where events could be performed. When the concrete slab was laid, wild animals walked ...

WORDS OF WISDOM FROM DR. MYLES MUNROE

Image
Late Dr Myles Munroe; a man of wisdom was quoted as saying: I was born poor, sleeping on the floor with cockroaches and rats. Today, I own my own jet. Everything I have is paid for. I am debt free; I open new businesses every year and mentor many people,” ON UNEMPLOYMENT Myles Munroe strongly discouraged the reliance on Government for jobs, describing it as ‘lazy thinking.’“There is no such thing as unemployment in the world. What you call unemployment is what I call lazy thinking,” he says.“The work of government is not to create jobs, but to create an environment for people to develop their own work,” he asserts. ON GIFTS/TALENTS: Munroe discourages employed professionals against relying solely on their jobs for income, urging them to instead create wealth using their unique talents. He also challenges aspiring entrepreneurs to develop and refine their expertise in a talent, idea, service or body of knowledge. When you refine your gift in an area, you bec...

How to inspire manners to your children

Image
1. When entering the house greet your children with hugs and kisses. This should help develop their sense of love and mercy. 2. Be good to your neighbours and never backbite. Never speak ill of other drivers when on the road. Your children listen, absorb and emulate. 3. When calling your parents, encourage your children to speak to them. When visiting your parents take your children with you. The more they see you take care of your parents the more they will learn to take care of you. 4. When driving them say to school, don't always play albums or cds (even if my cds!). Rather, tell them the stories yourself. This will have a greater impact - trust me! 5. Read to them a short story and  even a scripture a day – it doesn't take much time, but very impactful in creating strong bonds and wonderful memories.  6. Comb your hair, clean your teeth and wear presentable cloths even if sitting at home and not going out for the day. They need to learn that ...
