THE GREATEST GIVER

Our world has experienced countless number of great men blessed with the graceful gift of giving, genuine channels flowing with love, spreading and filling the earth. We have experience people who gave their wealth, possessions, talents, time, even their lives to show love to another person, a community or even the world at large. I have read about great givers both from our time and history, great people like St. Vincent de Paul, Blessed Fredrick Ozanam, Mother Theresa of Calcutta, Nelson Mandela etc; but none of these people compare to the greatest giver of all time.

Our time, talent and treasures are the three fundamental things expected of a genuine giver, each given out in the most cheerful manner. The greatest giver of all gives these three and even more, as most people that gives, do so basically for him, so not only is the greatest giver of all time the perfect running cannel of love, but he is love in himself.

In the beginning, God created everything including man (Gen. 1: 1-27); he showed his loving nature by giving his very own image to us (Gen. 1:27); his kindness was shown by creating everything to be good (Gen. 1:25); and his unselfish nature was proven when he gave man dominion over all the creatures he had created (Gen. 1:28-30); he even gave the pride of naming all the creatures to man (Gen. 1:20) and after man failed him, he gave a second chance with the promise of paradise. His great giving was fully seen when he gave his only son in death for the sake of mankind. Romeo died for Juliet, you may whisper, yes! But Romeo was not kill by Juliet, the beautiful thing about God’s giving love for us is that he gave this sacrifice even when we were still sinners; and even now, as sinful as the heart of man is, he still gives us his love in provision, grace, life etc.

In the book of first Samuel 8-9 at the greedy request of man, God even allowed us to share in his supreme authority and kingship, such generosity goes beyond human nature.
Our God is without doubt, the greatest giver of all time, from the creation till now, this very moment, he still gives you the beautiful gift of life.
