NYSC REDEPLOYMENT SAGA CONTINUES......
I gave report some time back that
there is fire on the mountain for redeployed NYSC corps members, especially
those redeployed to Lagos, well the story seems far from over, With-in the
week, not less than 3,500 corps members that were redeployed to Lagos have been
issued a query over their redeployment, with claims that their redeployment
letters were faked. Disciplinary committees have been questioning the corps members
affected, trying to find out who they had to pay to acquire the letter and how
it all transpired. The allowance of most of this corps members have been
stopped since last month and the scheme still owes some of them for some
earlier months.
Rumor has it, this is the reason why
allowances (Allawee) for the month of April is yet to be paid as the NYSC is
still deciding on how to handle the issue.
But the question in the air is, are
the Corps members really responsible for the present predicament or the
government that has failed to restore the security of their lives in the north,
the same government that you would never find any of their wards serving in
those areas.
These redeployed corps members
passed through not less than ten offices before settling down in their new
states with these same letters, and are only been told now after about five
months that their letters were fake, I perceive incompetence.
Instead of punishing these poor corps members by
with-holding their allowance (I wonder how they are expected to survive),
address the real issues and let them concentrate on their service to humanity.
