Reading is an essential part of learning, but the culture has been recording great decline among young people. It is people to be worst in Africa as blacks are believed to give negligence to book, young people generally are usually at a loss for information and self-learning, majority of the few that show little interest take preference to visual media. in a bid to help the culture, let me outline briefly 8 ways guardians can get their wards/children to read, especially from a tender age. when practiced, with time the children will on their own love the act.
1. Read Aloud to them
Children weather they admit it or not love to spend time with their parents, make one of this time a reading opportunity. Maybe at bedtime, read aloud stories to them, this stares their interest and makes them want to read along.
2. Reduce Distractions
Remove or reduce the usual time for all forms of distractions, especially television and channel that time to books.
3. Create Reading Time
Create specific time everyday for reading, no matter how little and I don't mean for assignments. A time when everything else including chores have to wait, at the end you can share you learning.
4. Always have Books, Magazines & Newspapers Around
When trying to inculcate a habit, you need to make it attractive and readily available. let your reading restrictions not be too rigid, give time for pleasure reading, comics, magazines etc. in-so-far as it right for the age and it helps nature the habit.
5. Start a Home Library
This is an essential part of the process, create a library system in your home even if its just a single shelf.
6. Be a Mirror
Children best pick up habits from the things they see, so if you want to encourage them to read. you also have to show them how much you enjoy the art yourself.

Give your children reading assignments, you can buy a book (novels and newspapers work well for this) give them to read over a time frame then come back and recite the stories or findings from them.

Teach them how to research for thing from books so it can become a routine system for them.
