STEPHANIE OKEREKE

Stephanie Linus Okereke was born on the 2nd of October, 1982 in Imo state, Nigeria as the sixth child of eight children. She completed her primary & secondary education in Delta State, and further studied at the University of Calabar, where she graduated with a degree in English and Literary Studies, a move she made even after stardom. In 2002 Stephanie won 2nd place in “The most beautiful girl in Nigeria” beauty pageant.
Not satisfied with being just an actress and wanting to create a voice and other roles for African women in Africa’s film industry, Okereke left for the United States to study film at the New York Film Academy at Universal Studios, Los Angeles. Armed with her knowledge, intelligence, determination and creativity, Okereke established her Production company “Next Page Productions” and has recently expanded her portfolio to include the titles of director, writer and producer in her first feature Hollywood-Nollywood film hybrid, “Through the Glass,” creating what she hopes is a preview of the direction and roles African women will embrace in the film industry.
Okereke was married (2004-2007) to a former Super Eagles football player Chikelue Iloenyosi, a marriage which a high court in Lagos in 2012 has declared null and void, because at the time they got married, Chikelue was already legally married to another woman in the US.
In April 2005, on her way to the African Movie Academy Awards held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria, Okereke was involved in a serious car accident that left her with burns all over and a broken leg. She recovered speedily from the accident and went back to acting.
In April 2012 Okereke married Linus Idahosa in Paris, France, at a private wedding ceremony that was attended by members of her family and scores of Nollywood actresses and actors.
Her story tells us that although life can be challenging, you can chase all your dreams. I DARE YOU 2 BE.
