I STAND WITH BOYS

Image
I got this very interesting and inspiring post from Facebook and thought i should share.. Few months ago in a WhatsApp group, someone asked a question about understanding men or something like that. My answer tended towards men advocacy. One of the members of the group was surprised. "This is the first time I am seeing you write for men," he said. I was on a panel two months ago and was the only guy amongst 10 female panelists. The event was about advocacy for the girl child and in the midst of many arguments, I argued that lots of empowerment program tend towards liberating women and helping them have healthy self identity, self image, self concept and self esteem but the boy child has been neglected. I will repost my submissions in those two events. I am of the opinion that we have more women raised to be wives than we have more men raised to be husbands. No thanks to incompetent parents who find nothing wrong in perpetuating a disempowering culture. A cult

A SURPRISE LESSON FROM SQUEEZING AN ORANGE

Image
I was preparing to speak at an "I Can Do It" conference and I decided to bring an orange on stage with me as a prop for my lecture. I opened a conversation with a bright young fellow of about twelve who was sitting in the front row. “If I were to squeeze this orange as hard as I could, what would come out?” I asked him. He looked at me like I was a little crazy and said, “Juice, of course.” “Do you think apple juice could come out of it?” “No!” he laughed. “What about grapefruit juice?” “No!” “What would come out of it?” “Orange juice, of course.” “Why? Why when you squeeze an orange does orange juice come out?” He may have been getting a little exasperated with me at this point. “Well, it’s an orange and that’s what’s inside.” I nodded. “Let’s assume that

DON'T WE ALL

Copied from a friend, read and enjoy... I was parked in front of the mall wiping off my car. I had just come from the car wash and was waiting for my wife to get out of work. Coming my way from across the parking lot was what society would consider a tramp. From the looks of him, he had no car, no home, no clean clothes, and no money. There are times when you feel generous but there are other times that you just don't want to be bothered. This was one of those "don't want to be bothered times."

Good, better, best. Never let it rest. 'Til your good is better and your better is best.                                                                                            ~St. Jerome This probably took you back to your child-hood days, matching into the classroom from the assembly ground and singing the words out loud... (Smiles). But I guess you never knew they were words from a catholic saint, it pisses me up these days when I see people do nothing and simply say God will provide. God will provide without putting in any effort, especially with the new kind of teachings we get from some of our churches where it is believed that once you donate to the church and are generous to your pastor/priest then all is well.  WAKE UP! These things help attract blessings yes, but you also have to put in effort, and make those efforts your best. Success does not come to you, you grab it yourself.

QUOTE OF THE DAY "People always have a way of holding on to your one WRONG over all your other RIGHT."                     ~ AdrianPastol. One day, a school teacher wrote on the board the following: 9×1=7 9×2=18 9×3=27 9×4=36 9×5=45 9×6=54 9×7=63 9×8=72 9×9=81 9×10=90 When she was done, she looked back at the students and they were all laughing at her because of the first equation which was wrong. Then the teacher said the following: I wrote that first one wrong on purpose, because I wanted you to learn something important today. This is exactly how the world the will treat you. You can see that I wrote the RIGHT thing nine times but none of you congratulated me for it, rather you all laughed and criticized me because of one wrong thing I did. Often times people will never appreciate the good you do a million times, but will criticize the one wrong thing you do. So don't get discouraged when this happens, just remember I told you so. ALWAYS RISE ABOVE

"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop."                                                                                ~Confucius. This holds one of the strongest motivation I can give  you, especially as the year quickly draw to a close. a lot of us will be taking accounts at this period beating their-selves up that they did not make much progress. NEWS FLASH- YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I have given myself some real knockout punches, none as hard as those life gave me but I am still standing. The hits you got may have probably been harder than mine but did you take note of the fact that- YOU ARE STILL STANDING.  You see the important thing is to keep moving, against all odds never give up. there is still a lot you can achieve in the 38 days left for the year, and a lot more in the coming year. So take a deep breath, re-assess your goal and take another step forward; but NEVER STOP MOVING. SHARE AND INSPIRE SOMEONE ELSE.

"For many people, the tragedy isn't that life ends too soon; it's that they wait too long to begin it"                                                   ~ Unknown Each time I read this I ask myself, have I started living mine? I am not really sure whose quote this is, but I remember coming across this line when I read John Maxwell's "Talent is never enough" and I remember I could relate completely. Now you may never really understand this until its too late but I pray we never get to that point. Do you also remember the quotes "Life begins at 40" or "A fool at forty is a fool forever." (Funny and ironic right?) Well I am not going to dwell on those today, and I want to keep this short and simple. Life is not really too short, you just have to live yours to the full, Jesus Christ died at age thirty-three and we all know his story, he started work really early. Is that too religious to connect to? fine, another

"In all things know that this too shall pass"  ~ AdrianPastol Today these words may be more for myself or for someone else, but I do hope it helps you the way it helps me.  When ever I am going through a challenge or pain of some kind, these words usually serve as a big source of strength. The truth is that no matter what you may be facing in life, even in the darkest moments of trials; remember this one thing and be strong, IT WILL PASS, FOR EVERYTHING PASSES. You may be grieving over the passing of a loved one, suffering some form of work pressure and financial stress, facing domestic challenges or just simply having a bad day; whatever the case the one thing I can promise you is that it won't last forever. IT MUST PASS. The only thing I recommend is that you do what you can to help it pass faster and have the situations change in your favor. STAY STRONG. Get Inspired Today. #git9ja.com

POWER OF SELF-CONFIDENCE "If you hear a voice within you say 'you cannot paint,' then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced."                                                          ~Vincent Van Gogh Now this often happen to people with very low self-confidence, just when you are about to do something great a small voice small inside you screams "can you?" Sometimes this voice(s) scream not just from the inside but also from all around you in form of competitors, neighbors, friends and sometimes even family. It is often at this time that you should be challenged to be great. Have people told you that you can't achieve that which your heart burns for? My advice -

THE HOLE IN THE BOAT.

Image
One day a man was asked to paint a boat by an owner of boat. He brought with him paint and brushes and began to paint the boat a bright red, as the owner asked him. While painting, he realized there was a hole in the hull and decided to repair it. When finished painting, he received his money and left. The next day, the owner of the boat came to the painter and presented him with a nice check, much higher than the payment for painting. The painter was surprised: - You've already paid me for painting the boat! - he said. - But this is not for the paint job. It's for having repaired the hole in the boat. - Ah! But it was such a small service ... certainly it's not worth paying me such a high amount for something so insignificant! My dear friend, you do not understand. Let me tell you what happened.

The Power of Self-Confidence by Brian Tracy

Image
The Power of Self-Confidence by Brian Tracy provides food for thought about how we are the ones who hold ourselves back from the goals we hold. The book discussed how self-confidence is built through perception and action that enhances character. It sheds light on how self-confidence is an inner game that once it is mastered moves to provide new ways of overcoming environmental challenges.  The book has approximately seven chapters that include the foundations of self-confidence, purpose and personal power, achieving competence and personal mastery, the inner game of self-confidence, capitalizing on strengths, and overcoming adversity, and self-confidence in action. Each of these chapters will help readers gain greater awareness of what self-confidence is and where it can lead them.  Self-confidence is a very personal game one can master with themselves. It is one in which you are both the player and the opponent. The world is a reflection of what you believe and this c

POWER OF SELF-CONFIDENCE "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."                                                          ~Eleanor Roosevelt This is on of my biggest sermons "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." Once I had to talk to a young girl about her anger issues and how she can manage it, Now according to her- She have never seen me angry, and this was true.  But the truth is I do sometimes get angry only it has to be totally worth it, and one way that is determined is by determining how much the person responsible for my anger is worth to me. I DON'T GIVE THE POWER TO CHANGE MY MOOD TO JUST ANYONE. Here Roosevelt makes the same connection in relation to inferiority complex and how only you can allow others make you feel that way, YOU SHOULDN'T GIVE THAT POWER TO JUST ANYONE. I agree with this quote 100% Except you allow others ride your self-confidence, they can't. I guess the question is

POWER OF SELF-CONFIDENCE "Confidence comes not from always being right but from not being afraid to be wrong."                                                                                     ~Peter T. Mcintyre. Again this captures the effects of fear, the danger of not being willing to try. Thomas Edison, one of the world's greatest inventor when attempting to invent the light bulb failed 10,000 times. Yes 10,000; when asked about it he said he had found 10,000 ways the process won't work, today we all use the light bulb. The fear of being wrong often times stop us from attaining our heights. Imagine President Buhari was afraid to contest again simply because he had failed the last two times, or that president elect Donald Trump was afraid to contest against Hilary Clinton because she was more experienced, favored and loved. We develop our self-confidence not from always being right but when we disregard the fear of being wrong, when we

10 WAYS TO REDUCE UNNECESSARY EXPENSES AND SURVIVE THE RECESSION.

Image
Nigeria is passing through one of it's hardest times and the scary part is that it seems to be getting worst. People are being laid off their jobs and most of the ones being retained have their salaries slashed. The rates for importation of goods have shot-up while dollar is continuously on the rise against the naira.  The situation begs the question, HOW DO WE SURVIVE?  Below are 10 things you can do to reduce routine expenses and save more, you will be surprise how much little things and expenses matter.       1. REDUCE OR STOP TAKING BIKES (Okada) Bikes are one of the most common means of transportation mainly because it helps one get out of traffic, but some people have gotten so used to it that they hardly ever take other means even when the roads are free (am guilty as charged). Cutting down on this can save you some good amount of money. imagine you take bike to the office everyday at 300 naira (1,500 per week and that's just for getting to the office)

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU HAVE A TYRE BLOWOUT

Image
There are 6 simple steps to take within a maximum of 2 minutes in other to save your life and that of those around you. These steps are often implemented by grace for I can't say here that practice makes perfect but in the event, it is necessary for you to keep calm, stay focus and follow these steps in other to saves.   They are as follow: (1) DON'T PANIC in the event of a blowout, calm yourself down fast because your car will start misbehaving and you need to take charge.   (2) Hold FIRMLY to your steering wheel with both hands, NO VIGOROUS TURNING, as you concentrate on the road and your mirrors, in seconds study the movement pattern of the car. Your car will naturally swerve to the direction of the burst tyre. (3) Gradually take off your foot from the accelerator, DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO HIT THE BRAKES, IF YOU DO, THERE IS A 95% CHANCE THAT YOUR CAR WILL SOMERSAULT. The car will decelerate gradually while you concentrate on the road to avoid collision

POWER OF SELF-CONFIDENCE "What one great thing would you dare to dream, if you knew you could not fail?"                                                                                                         ~Brain Tracy. I have come across many life changing questions but this is one that stands out with the power to boost our inner strength. One great factor that often holds us back in life is FEAR ( That small voice inside us that screams the question: What if I don't succeed? ) Fear can sometimes be good as it help us develop caution but it becomes a deadly sickness when it kills our self-confidence, when it makes us hold back. This is when we must face it, so many dreams have died out simply because we fail to dare owing to fear.  So today, I challenge you to take that bold step and answer the question: WHAT ONE GREAT THING WOULD YOU DARE TO DREAM, IF YOU KNEW YOU WOULD NOT FAIL?  NOW DO IT.

DON'T CHANGE THE WORLD

Image
Once upon a time, there was a king who ruled a prosperous country. One day, he went for a trip to some distant areas of his country. When he was back to his palace, he complained that his feet were very painful, because it was the first time that he went for such a long trip, and the road that he went through was very rough and stony. He then ordered his people to cover every road of the entire country with leather. Definitely, this would need thousands of cows’ skin, and wo uld cost a huge amount of money.  Then one of his wise servants dared himself to tell the king, “Why do you have to spend that unnecessary amount of money? Why don’t you just cut a little piece of leather to cover your feet?” The king was surprised, but he later agreed to his suggestion, to make a “shoe” for himself. Moral: To make this world a happy place to live, you better change yourself - your heart; and not the world.... Source: Facebook.

TIME BANK ACCOUNT

Image
Imagine there is a bank, which credits your account each morning with 86,400 naira, carries over no balance from day to day, allows you to keep no cash balance, and every evening cancels whatever part of the amount you had failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every pence, of course! Well, everyone has such a bank. Its name is Time. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have   failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the records of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours. There is no going back. There is no drawing against the "tomorrow." Therefore, there is never not enough time or too much time. Time management is decided by us alone and nobody else. It is never the case of us not having enough time to do things, but the case of
