THERE IS A SOLUTION TO EVERY PROBLEM...

Image
Many hundreds of years ago in a small Italian town, a merchant had the misfortune of owing a large sum of money to the moneylender. The moneylender, who was old and ugly, fancied the merchant's beautiful daughter so he proposed a bargain. He said he would forgo the merchant's debt if he could marry the daughter. Both the merchant and his daughter were horrified by the proposal. The moneylender told them that he would put a black pebble and a white pebble into an empty bag. The girl would then have to pick one pebble from the bag. If she picked the black pebble, she would become the moneylender's wife and her father's debt would be forgiven. If she picked the white pebble she need not marry him and her father's debt would still be forgiven. But if she refused to pick a pebble, her father would be thrown into jail. They were standing on a pebble strewn path in the merchant's garden. As they talked, the moneylender bent over

BUILDING BRIDGES

Image
Once upon a time two brothers who lived on adjoining farms fell into conflict. It was the first serious rift in 40 years of farming side by side, sharing machinery, and trading labour and goods as needed without a hitch. Then the long collaboration fell apart. It began with a small misunderstanding and it grew into a major difference, and finally it exploded into an exchange of bitter words followed by weeks of silence. One morning there was a knock on John's door. He opened it to find a man with a carpenter's toolbox. "I'm looking for a few days work," he said. "Perhaps you would have a few small jobs here and there. Could I help you?" "Yes," said the older brother. "I do have a job for you. Look across the creek at that farm. That's my neighbour, in fact, it's my younger brother. Last week there was a meadow between us and he took his bulldozer to the river levee and now there is a creek between us. Well, he

LIMITATIONS: Fight for your Dreams

An eagle's egg was placed in the nest of a prairie chicken. The egg hatched and the little eagle grew up thinking it was a prairie chicken. The eagle did what the prairie chickens did.  It scratched in the dirt for seeds. It clucked and cackled. It never flew more than a few feet because that is what the prairie chickens did. One day he saw an eagle flying gracefully and majestically in the open sky. He asked the prairie chickens: "What is that beautiful bird?" The chickens replied,

Tonto Dike

Image
Tonto Dike Tonto Charity Dikeh , also known as Tonto Dike (born June 9, 1985) is a Nigerian actress and singer(Yes, I said it, and singer) from Rivers State and is of the Ikwerre Tribe. Tonto is from a family of seven. Her story is not exactly a poverty to riches tale, she comes from a rich home and while growing up, got all she wanted. She went to the best schools and had cool friends; the only ill you can clearly point out is that she lost her mum when she was little. But she had a great step-mum to compensate. She made her entry into movies in 2005, she competed against other contestants on a reality TV show called The Next Movie Star ; she was the first runner up.Tonto's appearance on the show was as a means of getting closer to the "big time", she says, and her start in the Nigerian movie industry came soon after. Her career has been great since then, but there is a catch about Tonto I would love to bring to light. She is strong, decisive and focus. Three

Acres of Diamond

Image
http://www.adrianpastol.com/2014/04/acres-of-diamond.html There was a farmer in Africa who was happy and content. He was happy because he was content. He was content because he was happy. One day a wise man came to him and told him about the glory of diamonds and the power that goes along with them. The wise man said, "If you had a diamond the size of your thumb, you could have your own city. If you had a diamond the size of your fist, you could probably own your own country." And then he went away. That night the farmer couldn't sleep. He was unhappy and he was discontent. He was unhappy because he was discontent and discontent because he was unhappy. The next morning he made arrangements to sell off his farm, took care of his family and went in search of diamonds.

END OF MARRIAGE.

Image
By AdrianPastol.  (To all facing disappointments in their marriages) “My in-laws, I greet you all once again and I thank you for welcoming us into your home” the tall smart looking elder said with a very confident voice, like he was sure of success on his mission. Uncle Uche or Nda Uche (‘Nda’ an ibo word meaning senior, is used as a sign of respect when addressing elders) as he is usually called; is my husband’s eldest brother. He was their father now, ever since their father died many year ago; it was him who helped my husband through school and even sent him abroad for his masters before my husband came back to join the family business, and he adorns me so much, sometimes I fear far more than his own wife, he has done everything he could possible do to keep my marriage to his brother intact and happy. So I knew even before they came to my father’s house where I have been staying for over two months now, after I left my husband; that he would lead the de

5 REALLY BAD HABITS OF FINANCIALLY SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE

Image
Let’s start by getting it right. These are not just bad habits, these are really bad habits; and they are not simple bad cultures but really bad habits that actually contributes greatly to their financial success. If you ever need to learn a few bad habits, take your pick from this list.   1. They associate closely with people of their class and interest. You must have heard of the expression “birds of a feather flock together” –TRUE. But have you heard of the law of associate that states “you can never rise above the level of the 6 closest people to you” now I don’t know if you agree with that law but you agree with me that financially successful people live strongly by this rule. Let me break their thoughts down for you, if you want to start-up a business in telephone and computer marketing, would you rather hang out with someone Nnamdi Ezeigbo (CEO of Slots) or a young man who is just trying to survive in Trade fair (Lagos) selling recharge cards? I thought so…

The traffic was caused by an ongoing road construction at the peak of the holidays. I wondered when our government would

DOES EDUCATION ALWAYS GUARANTEE GOOD JUDGEMENT? (A GREAT ADVICE)

Image
There is a story about a man who sold hot dogs by the roadside. He was illiterate, so he never read newspapers . He was hard of hearing, so he never listened to the radio. His eyes were weak, so he never watched television. But enthusiastically, he sold lots of hot dogs. His sales and profit went up. He ordered more meat and got himself a bigger and a better stove. As his business was growing, the son, who had recently graduated from college, joined his father. Then something strange happened. The son asked, "Dad, aren't you aware of the great recession that is coming our way?" The father replied, "No, but tell me about it." The son said, "The international situation is terrible. The domestic is even worse. We should be prepared for the coming bad time." The man thought that since his son had been to college, read the papers, and listened to the radio, he ought to know and his advice should not be taken lightly. So the next day, th

Flavour was born on the 23 November 1983 as the first son of a large family consisting of four siblings and seven step siblings. He is a highly celebrated Nigerian recording artist, dancer, songwriter, and performer. He began his musical career at age 13 as a drummer for a local church in his hometown of Enugu State.
